A great opportunity for the Rutters XI to show off their skills out of the office on the pitch. Rutters XI was led by Duncan Weir, Derek Rowntree and Matthew Billingsley, solicitors at the firm who were accompanied by a merry band of men made up of ‘other halves’, relatives and clients, some of whom had not played cricket before and others who were more accomplished than they let on.

Port Rejects batted first setting Rutters 125 to win after a great team performance in the field. The Rutters reply was dominated by Graham Morrison’s 50 not out (retired for being too good) and Tom Hatcher who paved the way for victory in the last over with only 3 balls to spare.  A close contest with Rutters eventually winning by 5 wickets.

It was a lovely evening with not a cloud in the sky. A great chance for those not playing to watch the match, socialise and enjoy the food and drink while the children tired themselves out running around.

Thank you to James Wood for his proficient umpiring, Sophie Weir for her BBQ efforts catering for 60 people and not least to Shaftesbury CC and Terry Warder for hosting the match at their wonderful ground.
